Report on JUSE International Seminar on TQM, 2023(ISTQ)

The International Seminar on TQM, hosted by JUSE, was held from September 19 (Tuesday) to 26 (Tuesday), 2023. We would like to thank the many participants in the seminar (27 participants from 5 countries).
This is the first time in four years that this seminar has been held in a group (face-to-face) setting since it was canceled due to the global spread of the new coronavirus in 2019.
We received many more inquiries than we could accommodate, and we would like to take this opportunity to apologize to those who could not register due to the capacity of the venue.

This training program consisted of four days of lectures and two days of company visits (three company visits).
The lectures were given by experts in such areas as TQM overview, policy management and daily management, and how to proceed with improvement activities. In addition, Mr. Sasaki, President of JUSE, gave a lecture titled "Quality Management at Toyota Motor Corporation" and introduced the concept of Jikotei-kanketsu (Own Process Completion).
After the four days of lectures, the participants enjoyed a weekend tour of Tokyo and Kyoto to experience Japanese culture. We believe that the participants were able to experience the history and culture of Japan, especially in Kyoto.

During the company visits, the following three companies were visited over a two-day period:
(1) GS Yuasa (2) Sekisui Chemical (3)Tahara Plant, Toyota Motor
The participants toured the manufacturing sites of each company and exchanged information on their quality management initiatives.

Through the lectures and company visits, the participants were able to interact with each other, and many of them commented that the training was very meaningful, as they were able to learn about the different approaches to quality management in various companies and organizations, as well as experience the actual situation through case presentations.

We are planning to hold two sessions in 2024 on the dates listed below. We hope you will consider participating next year.
