2006 The Deming Prize Award Ceremony was held at the Keidanren Kaikan in Otemachi, Tokyo in November 7, 2006. Brief introductions of the award winners are as follows.
The Japan Quality Medal
GC Dental Products Co., Ltd. (Japan)
The high evaluation of GC Dental Products Co., Ltd. attributes to the continuous promotion of TQM even after winning the Deming Application Prize in 2003 and achieving remarkable outcome. The certificate and the medal were awarded to the management director, Mr. Shigenobu Kusakai.
The Deming Prize for Individuals
Dr. Yoshinori Iizuka, Professor, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo
Dr. Iizuka was acclaimed for his active participation in a broad field of the quality management in which Dr. Iizuka contributed largely by building brand new TQM concept and its penetration in the field of software and medical quality.
The certificate and medal as well as the supplementary prize from Nihon Keizai Shinbun Inc. were awarded to Dr. Iizuka.
The Deming Application Prize
Nishizawa Electric Meters Manufacturing Co., Limited (Japan)
After winning the 1st Japan Quality Recognition Award, Nishizawa Electric Meters Manufacturing Co., Limited carried on TQM promotion. Expectation is high for its further growth in the future.
The certificate and the medal were awarded to the president, Mr. Taisuke Nishizawa.
Sanden International (Singapore) PTE Limited (Singapore)
Sanden International (Singapore) PTE Limited was highly recognized for making significant achievement in cultivating undeveloped market by reflecting the analysis of the product feature and strength based on TQM under the unique market environment.
The certificate and the medal were awarded to the managing director Mr. Robert Kheng.
Sanden International (U.S.A.), Inc. (U.S.A.)
While promoting TQM, Sanden International (U.S.A.), Inc. encouraged unique activities by utilizing the management system. As a result, the company realized the V-shaped recovery that received high evaluation.
The certificate and the medal were awarded to the president and CEO, Mr. Kazuo Nishimura.
Winners expressed full of the joy in their remarks following the award presentation. Mr. Toshiei Mizuochi, Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology also delivered a congratulatory address as a representative of the guest of honor.
