Invitation to ISQFD'12 -Yamanashi

It has already passed 40 years since QFD was first proposed. In the meantime, QFD has developed tremendously. It would not be an overstatement to say that QFD is welcoming its mature period after passing the predawn and growing phase. While QFD has established a strong presence as a significant tool for quality assurance with a high degree of usability, we can also assume that it is about time to open new frontiers for QFD, which is matured.

At ISQFD, a large number of case studies from various industries and regions, as well as high quality papers of theoretical research will be presented. Through these presentations, you will be able to recognize the true value of QFD, as a concrete and tangible tool to create quality products and services, by deepening your knowledge further. It will be a golden opportunity to learn the theory and application for QFD.

The ISQFD 2012 will be held at University of Yamanashi, where QFD was born. QFD was brought forward when Dr. Yoji Akao was in service at University of Yamanashi. This 18th ISQFD in 2012 will be the 4th ISQFD in Japan after 1st ISFQD in 1995, 7th in 2001, and 12th in 2006. Let�fs take this opportunity to carry out discussions over QFD, where a number of high quality papers will be collected and presented from all over the world. We look forward to your active participation.

CHI Empowered Quality Creation in Global Era (CHI is synthetic concept of Knowledge, Wisdom and Mind) Mr. Tomohiro Takanashi President, T&T PARTNERS President, NPO Japan Association for Knowledge Management

New paradigm, referred to as "Global era", has promoted visualizations of quality control process from various points of view, and created multiple quality layers. That is, conformed quality and perceptual quality are further sublimed, and quality of life or society beyond individual dimensional quality, has become conspicuous. The concept of quality control, represented by "Sorting, sharing and prioritizing of information" through QFD, is evolving to a new framework where CHI, such as super upstream quality, and implicit quality, is added. In this speech, visualization of black/grey boxes on quality concept and quality control process will be performed to ask, again, what quality is, that is friendly to human, also required for quality creation from the CHI standpoint.

Home Appliances Company, Panasonic Corporation, is aiming to develop into an "Environment Innovative Company", and we, at Laundry and Cleaner Business Unit, are responsible for development, manufacturing, sales and marketing of products ranging from washing machines, vacuum cleaners, to hygienic toilet seats under Panasonic Brand. In recent years, while R&D and production bases, as well as main customer segments, are expanding globally, we must keep winning against competitors in a global basis. For this purpose, global growth is mandatory, and we must accelerate local development of products, not by Japanese but by locals, in each respective country, in order to provide products that satisfy local customers. We aim to provide products that are of safe, secure and favorite, to global customers by establishing a solid and coherent quality assurance system from planning to manufacturing stage through QFD.

1. Case Presentation ? Successful case studies in manufacturing industry, Application case studies in various field/new area (eg., medical & hospital, service, IT, software industries), etc.
2. Research Presentation ? Research on QFD operation/application, research on collaboration in other fields or with other tools (IT, Engineering Development Management, Policy Management, TRIZ, Knowledge Management, Product planning for concept-mining, P7, etc., Sensory evaluation, Environment management, Problem-solving, DOE, Concurrent Engineering, Taguchi method, TOC, New Lanchester strategy, Benchmarking, AHP, Process Management, Lean Production, Stage Gate), etc.

-Language

  Official conference languages are English.
  Consecutive interpretation between the two languages will be provided.

1. Application for presentation & abstract submission: February 29, 2012 (*Please fill in the application form, and submit together with your abstract of about 500 words)

3. Submission of full paper: April 27, 2012 (Size A4 paper, maximum 6 pages including charts, tables and drawings)
